Sheather & Merrigan Business Equipment has adopted a responsible approach to our environment. We strongly believe that concerned individuals and organisations can make a positive difference. Our company, with the involvement of our staff and their families, is attempting to make our local community a better place.
Sheather & Merrigan will be working closely with local councils within our regions over the coming years in our endeavor to plant many thousands of trees, shrubs, grasses and plants in regions that require regeneration.
Sheather & Merrigan’s customers are involved in this long term commitment. With each order placed for a Canon product, Sheather & Merrigan guarantees 5 new trees to be planted.

The office equipment industry is no different to others in the fast paced world of business, we can generate waste. Sheather & Merrigan are extremely successful in recycling the majority of our waste. Waste is generated from three main areas; packaging, delivery and product.
The areas we focus our energies: cardboard, paper, foam, soft plastics and e-Waste. e-Waste is the area that includes product. Simply, our target here is zero landfill. We recycle the end of life copiers, printers and faxes.
Included in this program is many major spare part components such as photoconductive drums, fuser assemblies plastic toner cartridges, waste toner containers. In regards to waste toner containers we work closely with our customers and Planet Ark. Again our customers are involved whereby they recycle then call our company and we provide the vital pick-up service for used cartridges.
Canon Australia has joined forces with Planet Ark in a unique environmental program called Cartridges 4 Planet Ark, aimed at collecting and recycling laser and inkjet cartridges. Canon Australia is a founding member of this successful program.
The delivery of our Canon products and consumables on a daily basis results in over one thousand deliveries per month. Always requiring boxing and wrapping to ensure safe delivery to our customers. Boxes and cardboard not earmarked for our cardboard recycling program are flattened and stored for future reuse.
Unused paper waste from running up and testing new equipment is either recycled, or, shredded and reused for packing. Sheather & Merrigan also provide a “new life” for a selected range of it’s Canon products through our quality refurbishment program.
